Finally - Photo Archives!

It's amazing what my little homepage has become since I registered the Zanzig.com domain back in January 1999. Back then I would have just a few slides and photographs scanned in good quality, mostly to share with friends and family. Today I see in a normal month between 35,000 and 40,000 unique visitors, requesting anywhere between 200,000 and 250,000 pageviews.

And today I reached another milestone on my personal quest to become a professional photographer: I opened the "archive section", containing images that did not make it to the site, but that might be interesting for my clients and visitors to review. Now you can see the raw portfolio, i.e. almost all the images I have taken during a trip or event that are duplicates or otherwise unsuitable for the trip reports. I started with the digital photos from Tenerife and Mallorca, taken with my excellent 1ds mk2.

But I have to warn you - the pictures have been resized and edited automatically! Lacking the manual finish in Photoshop, the photos sometimes simply look rubbish in the archive. But what the heck? I know you won't be fooled easily: the original photos are much better and will look excellent when polished for print!

I know that the image archive still leaves a lot to be desired ("individual image descriptions" springs to my mind immediately), but it is a start. A step into the right direction. I will add other archives over the next few months, which will be very interesting, expecially for the "long" trips. And I will improve the functionality. There's so much material still waiting in the filing cabinets to see the daylight - it's incredible!

Anyway, now you can spend even more time on Zanzig.com! Enjoy!
